Control Arm bushing replacement

OK heres the deal, My 24 yr. old S-10 needs the front suspension bushings repleced. As I have never done this I'm going to need some help.

I have disassembled the front, burned the old bushings out of the lower control arms, (cause I don't have a press, and a hammer wouldn't do the trick).

Now for my problem. Do the new bushings need to be pressed in? Does anybody have another way of doing this? If the new ones do go in easily, do you have to tack weld the sleeve to control arm, or does it matter?

Any help would be appreciated
