control arm bushings

Im trying to replace the bushings in the controll arms (both upper and lower) from a 67 camaro. I managed to get the rubber parts out of the lower A-arms but the metal sleave is still in there. I've tried WD-40, liquid wrench, and a big hammer but these things ain't givin a millimeter. Having a tough time with the upper ones too. Any insight would be great.

Thanks, Sam

Control arm bushings should be pressed in and out in a press. Some people heat it up to get them out, but its a bad idea. Takes some of the strength out of the arm if heated too much.

I use an air chisel --punch. You could use a hammer and chisel

Good Luck

if you are carefull you can use a sawzall or a hack saww and cut through the shell and then it will come out easy. when putting the new bushings in make sure you brace it so you don't bend your control arm. also before you put the second one in make sure you have the shaft in place.

Use the bolts and shaft to pull them in.
