Conversion Ford Ranger V-6 to a V-8

Hi,
I am building a "Rat Rod" and have a '92 Ford Ranger Frame and a 351 W and a AOD trans that I would like to put in then add the other parts.
I am wondering if any one has made this conversion and what did they use for motor mounts other than Advance Adapters mounts and as always there is the old "Plenty of time but not enough money for aftermarket parts"
It would be a big help if some one has done this conversion and how they set up or made the the motor mounts.

Thanks

For engine mounts on my ranger I bolted flat 3/16 plate to the block and welded it to the frame. I'm running a C-4. For the trans I made a short extension from the crossmember to the trans mount. It cost about $5.

Ranger V-8 conversion

Hi,
Thanks for sending the information on the Ranger swap
You used a 3/16 plate and bolted to to the block then welded it to the frame
Did you have any problems with engine tourqe breaking the welds?
Did you brace the 3/16 plate?
What other clearance problems did you have?
Thanks again,
Ford Wagon

I welded the plate on three sides to the top of the frame and welded a couple braces down to the crossmember. I'm running 15 psi into a 302 and haven't broken the welds but it is traction limited.
