Convert 89 Chevy Pickup 1-ton to 1/2 ton

Hey folks. I'm wondering if anyone is familiar enough with this generation of truck to tell me if it would be easier to just move the drivetrain from a 1-ton into a 1/2-ton or if it is feasible to move the 1/2-ton suspension onto the 1-ton.

I'm not sure if they are the same frame, mounting points etc...just figured I'd ask before I start crawling around in the mud.

The feasible way to do this is sell the truck you have and buy the truck you want. The frames are different - the one ton is beefier. Suspension arms are different also.

Joe-
Thanks for the information. The 1 ton I have is actually in pretty good shape and I like the drivetrain. I just have no interest in lifting the truck up, I'd rather drop it down to a lower ride-height but it seems like all of the cool kits and such are for 1/2 tons or 3/4 tons...
