anyone know if it would be feasble to chop the top completely off my 54 belair and replace it with a rag top.....i wanna chop the top down 4 inches but im not very experienced at body work aside from quarter panels and small areas of rust and dont really got anyone with expertise to help so im a little leary of taking the sawzall to it.......maybe it would be easier to just chop the windshield and doors and fit a convertible top on kinda like that better anyway..........any advice?

Feasible? Yes. Inexpensive, and easy....... no way. Manufacturing your own convertible top is a LOT of work and if you've never done it before your chances of success are not all that good. You would be better off removing the top, chopping the windshield and then making a "Carson" style removable top. This can be done with metal or fiberglass. My choice would be fiberglass since its lighter and more forgiving than metal to the novice.

Good luck.
