Convertible Top

Hey all

I have a 95 Olds Cutlass Supreme Convertibe that my wife and daughters have used the last few summers. Original Fla car and has lived inside up here on the Cape since we acquired it....only 85000 miles and its way too nice to let it get any worse....

I am going shopping for a new top this summer.... looks like a project I don't want to tackle myself.... what's a fair retail price for an OEM style job like this installed... and any sugestions for a shop here in SE Massachusetts ?

Thanks

Mike B

i would think $500 to $750 would get you a top installed. Hear are some places to check out in your neck of the woods.

The top will cost about $300.00. A vinyl rear curtain is around $200.00. A glass window is around $425, and a glass window with defroster is around $525. Your cables and pads should be O.K. to use again, but if they need to be replaced, a pad set is about $50.00, and both sets of cables are around $160.00. The installation time is listed as an extra 3 hours for a glass rear window, and 7 hours for the top itself.

The top with a vinyl curtain is $500.00, and installation of 7 hours for the whole thing. I don't know what labor rates are in your area, but that would be around $250. Total $750 for top, vinyl curtain and installation. Could be more, could be a little less. Add $250 to $350 for glass rear window. I priced this with an Electron top. Electron is based in Richmond Hill NY. There are cheaper tops out there, but be careful what top your installer wants to use. There is a big difference in quality and customer service. Good luck.
