Convertible top installation question
I'm looking for information or photos on how to install the foam 'stay pads' under the convertible top canvas on my 1971 Olds Cutlass. The car has no material at all on it to use as reference. I bought a Kee top from The Parts Place Inc, window, pads, tack strips, etc. I have the Fisher Body Service manual, but the instructions about the stay pads are not real clear to me. <P>
Do the stay pad 'sleeves' go on with the slit up? Fasten them first, then glue the foam pads inside? I'm assuming the wide end of the sleeves go toward the back? Please help. Thanks. |

I did my 62 Pontiac roof at home.....a long time ago. If I remember right, the pads already came with the foam installed, so I can't help you, if they are separate. the hardest part, other than stretching the top, was making sure the back bow above the window was in the right position. the measurements for that are in the GM manual.
