Converting Jag rear end to Ford 9"

This is a multi part question so here goes

How had is it to cut down a Ford rear end to make it fit into the Jag rear suspension?

How do they do it? What about mounting the disc brake rotors and calipers?

Second what kind of cost am I looking at to cut one down?

What's the cost to rebuild a Ford rear end.

I'm not in need of it yet BUT I will need to have the one in my car rebuilt sometime and I thought if it's cheap enough I might do the conversion then but have the new unit built now and keep it around just in case.

Regards
Mark

re: Converting Jag rear end to Ford 9"

As strange as it sounds...I converted my wifes '77 Jag to a Chevy rearend..(couldn't afford to rebuild rearend and do brake job)..anyway this was some time ago and as I recall it was very easy..had to bolt a 2 x 6 tube across the floorpan above rearend and welded tubes through it to run coilover shocks to the rearend and made up some trailing arms. One thing to note..don't use both coilovers from the Jag suspension, maybe try one or use less heavy duty ones. Once you remove the Jag rearend from the bottom of the car you lighten up the back a lot an it will ride like a tank.

If I won the national lottery that's the way I'd go too.

Jag used Dana third members in their cars, maybe you could find a place that would have a HD/posi unit that bolts right in.
What is the reason for wanting to make the switch?
Later,
