The wheelie bars on the FWD cars are used for an entirely different purpose, not to prevent wheelstands.
When the car stages, the wheelie bars, which are hydraulic or air operated, are activated and push down on the track, lifting the rear wheels off the ground. This puts all the weight on the front drive wheels. After the car launches, the bars gradually let the rear wheels back down.
Kinda goofy, but it works pretty well. American inginuity......it's a wonderful thing. Some of these cars I believe have cracked the 6 second barrier and are over 200 mph, so they do go.
