COOL FACTOR ( my opinion )
I think i am reading this forum too much before i go to bed. I had a dream of a car i use to own way back in the late 70ties or very early 80ties. There was a place in my county where all they sold were corvettes, (used ).In the back part of the fenced in lot i saw an older mustang with the front end noticeably higher than the rear. I went to talk to someone there and the guy told me 800.00 dollars its yours. some how i got the money??? Upon getting a closer look at this car , it was a 65 mustang fastback with a chrome straight axle. Let me remind you i was only 17 or 18 years old. I think someone used this car for drag racing only, it was black in color, the windows were purpled out and it had a mopar engine in it . The motor was seized up , so i couldnt even test drive the car, not that it would have kept me from buying it anyways, so me and my best friend went back home grabbed a chain and started pulling the car down the hi-way with my dads pick up truck. About 3 miles down the road, we get pulled over by a cop, he came out of his car , looking all frusrated, shaking his head and couldnt believe what someone had actually done to this car. He told us it was illegal to be pulling this car home with a chain, well he left we had no money to get a tow truck so we took the chance again pulling the car home with a chain. We got the car back to my friends house and we poured trans fluid in the cylinders, we eventally got the motor to fire up and i was able to take it for short drives down the road. I remember people driving by the other direction and there necks actually snapping to get a look as we drove by them . To me now, as then , that car was AWESOME. i have owned 55 chevy 67 nova , 68 gto convertable, 69 charger rt, 67 coronet, and others , presently 70 split bumper camaro, nothing was even close to the Coool factor ( MY OPINION ) as that 65 or 66 mustang fastback ,chrome straight axle, black with purple windows. I still didnt even know if that motor was a 318, 360, i just remembered it was a mopar engine, fuel pump in the trunk. My friends mom, wanted the car out of her driveway, my parents didnt want the car in our driveway, so i took it to my uncles house, put it in his back yard, small little subdivision, not much traffic , went back to my uncles , and he told me a sailor drove by seen the car, and wants to buy it. Yes i did, and i would love to have that car back. Remember this is just my opinion about the cool factor and attention that car got. I like the ( old school looks ) and will have a car again, with a chrome straight axle, black exterior, with the windows purple.
