Coolant Circulation...Need Quick Response

I have a 327 Chevy in my '49 Merc Sled. I want to disconnect the heater and eliminate it. Can I just take the hose nipple out of the water-pump and intake manifold and replace with a plug? Or should I put a heater hose from the manifold nipple to the water-pump nipple? Would I get better coolant flow and lower temperature by putting a bypass hose from the intake manifold to the water-pump?

Yours thoughts please~

I would plug them, looks better than a hose.

The Block has a Bypass for the Pump, "hole below left lower WP mounting bolt">> http://www.chevytech.info/2c42o8.html
You could drill 2 or 3, 1/8" holes in the Thermostat to help aid the bypass and just plug the WP & Manifold ports.

It is better to have a hose looped(not for looks I agree) . hook from the intake to the water pump with it. Water circulates through there as the engine warms up an running a hose would keep the engine from developing a hot spot because of no flow.wich it what you will have with no heater hose and a thermostat closed.
