Core size?

Does anyone know what the core size for a Cherrybomb or Thrush glasspack with a 2 1/4" inlet/outlet is?

Core size means flow!

I'm thinking that the core size would match the inlet/outlet size correct? If the inlet/outlet was 2 1/4" ID, wouldn't the core be 2 1/4" ID?

Tunnel vision...

Can you see the core enough to measure it? Also, should a glasspack have a perforated, not louvered core for max flow and a good sound?

stick you finger in the inlet and feel around. Get an idea of where its at then measure the outside with the tape measure.

Rotate 90 bend and cough.

Put that glove away!

Hopefully I won't need a prostate exam until I'm 50 and need a colinoscopy! I'll do that. Not bend and cough, but find a parts store that has a cherrybomb or thrush in stock then measure it to make sure it's the size I want before I order it.

Can't resist..that colinoscopy deal involves a big long hose and drinking some real nasty tasting stuff to "clean you out"..

The they run that hose up your.....and all the time you are awake while they do this little deal..

See what you are in for when you get "old"

OMT

Now what was this thread about?????

Im curious, why is it so important to know? people put them on v8's (backpressure up the arse) so you know they will flow ok for yours.

Have you even stuck your finger in it yet then measured? Do it man, youll get an idea...more of an idea than any text so far...

I got another curious ? for ya.....why you buying packs for? I mean sure ive got glasspacks, but i shure wouldnt have bought them...they will get changed out when i rebuild my engine. Im leaving them because why fix something thats not broke,right....but i have been thinking of cutting them directly in half and using a flex pipe dropped before the axels.....doubt ill do it, thats mickeymouse crap.

I thought the 4"-diameter ones had a 2-1/4" core, but http://www.dynomax.com/documents/thrushglass.pdf says they're 2-1/2". I have one in a box somewhere, & if I can lay my hands on it tonight, I'll try to measure the inside tube.

I bought a Thrush turbo, but I want to (when I get enough cash) add Pacesetter headers, a dynatech hi flow cat, and a glasspack on it. The turbo is ok, but I want more loud and throaty. I have a friend who has the same setup with a cherrybomb on a 2.8L, and it sounds awesome! No rice at all!

2.8.........i hadda 89 firebird with a 2.8 it was a v6.....it sounded like an oversized dirtbike (had a flowmaster and flow cat on it) didnt sound ricey though. but it never will get throaty and mean sounding, its too small of an engine........173 c.i.d. thats half of a 350 and 2 pistons short.....
