correct oil pump
I am ready to order the parts I need for my engine rebuild. The engine is a 57' chevy 283. I called the people at summit and they said there is a conflict with the oil pump. He said from 58 and up a generic high volume oil pump could be used, but the 57 had a different pump. They sell a stock replacement pump, but not the high volume for the 57. So I just went a looked at the pump that I took off the block which someone had allready rebuilt. The mubers on the side of the pump are: GM8 3836621
the numbers on the cap of the pump are: GM15 3704160
When looking at the pump and compairing to the pumps sold in summit, they look the same but the one I have has a longer neck. So my question is, will a normal sbc high volume oil pump work on my motor?
