Post Corvairs, love or hate?

Whats the concensus guys? Cool, gross or...?
Personally, I like the second gen., but would totally modify it with an all alum mouse up front with ground effects, mini tubs, full cage, low profile gumballs, Jag style headlights. A real road racer. Ok, so how freaky is that?

I have been collecting old Hot Rod, Car Craft and other magazines latly. During the early to mid sixties there were a lot of articles on hopping up Corvairs. Sounds like it used to be fairly popular. I am looking for a steering box out of one for my T-bucket if any body has one.

If I find a box I'll let you know. What I've been looking for is a radiator off a Corvair. I heard a Volkswagen Beetle radiator would cross over, but good luck trying to find one of those either. I heard they are all being hoarded because of there lightweight.

Thats the coolest corvair I've ever seen. I've also kinda like them and carmen ghia's too. I now its a totally different brand, but everytime I see either of them I end up thinking of the other. a guy in town used to have a avacado green one(corvair), it was ugly as sin because of the color, but that thing ran like a raped ape.

Cool

Well Gearhead since you asked I would have to say NO to a Corvair. I wouldn't give one a second glance, even the Red one Weimer showed us. I was around when the Spyders were hot and new on the scene, not my cup of tea as it were. I had GTO's and Chevelle's and Hemi's to Drool over!

When Packard stopped making cars, my dad was heart broken. He did some time with Pontiacs, but when the Corvair came out, he was back on his game. We had 3 or 4 of them, so I have a special place in my hert for them. We also had a Tempest with the rear end tranny, a slant 6 Poncho, Dodge Omni and even a 65 Mustang.
Dad was an engineer is all I can say

My brother was killed driving a Corvair, althought it wasn't the car's fault. He was driving on a highway when an old lady in a Cadillac coming the other way made a left turn into the side of his car. Only mark on his body was a bruise on his temple where the hood of the Caddy hit him. Left a wife and 4 little kids. Time and chance affects us all.

Ralph Nader is a trial lawer. Nuff said.

Whoa, just as I expected, the majority veto. Sorry about your brother Willys36. As far as that `Vair goes Weimer, thats certainly awesome. Would look good with a cowl hood and a `69 Camaro style rear spoiler. Yenko even produced 100 cars called the Stinger. (I think there was even a stinger vega) This is actor Tim allens car originallt campaigned in 1970. (I hope the pic works here, 1st attempt)
