Forgot: Past Year Con Dealer Kept Corvette 3 Days Hopes Dis Assembling Rear End Replace Pinion Seal--Could Not Remove Rear Yoke--Lied About Lubricating Vette, Gear Oil --Tried Keep New Oil Seal & My 2nd Set Keys-- Filed Credit Card Dispute (Got $ Back) Almost Punched Him Out! Just using the word "Corvette" in front of anything adds $$$ to the price. The actual gear assembly is just a standard GM posi unit but everything else is strickly Vette and scares a lot of people. I rebuilt my 74 from a bare frame up and it Was an Experience! It did take a 3/4" drive Tee Bar and 6' of pipe for a cheater bar to break the pinion nut loose. So breaking that nut loose can be a *****. I would still try to just replace the seal. The rubber in them gets hard with age and IF you don't have any other issues with the rear (gear wine, clunks, ect) I always go with the old addage "If it ain't broke don't fix it". Good Luck. See my album for pics of the rebuild.
