Question Count the bolts???

I have always heard of 10 bolt and 12 bolt GM rear ends, but the one I just got is from a 87 IROC and has 9 bolts on the inspection cover, and 8 bolts on the ring gear. Also what do you measure to see if it is a 7.5 or an 8 etc. the outer diameter of the ring gear, or the bolt pattern on the ring gear???

you measure the back side of the ring gear where it bolts to the carrier, it will measure between 7 1/2- 7 5/8 in. the term 10 bolt and 12 bolt rears applies to rears that were built in the sixties and seventies and don't always apply to newer cars. 10 bolt cover had a 10 bolt ring etc.

I found a web site that listed the rear-end. It is a Borg Warner 7 3/4" posi. Does anyone have gears for this to sell?

Actually you measure the biggest area of the ring gear, the side that faces the pinion.

You have a borg warner 9 bolt, ring and pinions for these are hard to find and only a limited selection of ratios is available. I hear the 9 bolt is stronger than the 7.5 and 7.625.

What ratio are you looking for? I have up to 4.10 ratios available. All the information is at www.9bolt.com
