Ok so here's my situation: I bought this project car from a relative. When I bought the car my family member told me that the transmission was slipping. I got the car pulled to my residence after I purchased it. After I removed the transmission I did a little researching to see if it was simply another problem and came up with this possibility, the cable on the TV Monitor (circular object) had been cut. What I would like to know is what role does this object play on the car and did it have anything with the transmission going out because of it?

I believe the circular object in the picture is the cruise control.

The 700R4 has a TV cable attaching to the carb or throttle body. It is VERY important.

Looks like something on the Cruise control to me.

Ok.....on my 700r4 transmission the 4 prong wires trail up to this if I traced correctly. My main concern was that if I bout a new 700r4 and didnt replace that cruise control servo would it damage my tranny since the wires are connected to it.

The 12V+ for the TCC/TorqueConverterClutch Lockup goes through the Cruise and Brake light switch. Pin-A on the Trans plug, usually a Purple wire.
So when you tap the Brakes, it cuts power to the Cruise and TCC Lockup. It wont harm anything.
