crack in starter mount hole

hi,today while replacing my starter motor i noticed 2 hair line cracks in starter mounting pad..if that piece breaks off it is looking like it would only be the area where the nurkle piece of the bolt goes..can still torque it up but i'm worried about starter movement if it breaks off..anyway is there anything i can do to stop it breaking and if it does what are my options on fixing it..have spent alot of money on this engine so pretty gutted somthing like a starter may course this much problems...have seen other posts about brackets you can run in between trans and engine but need older style starter...is that the only way to fix the problem if you ever crack mounting hole ?

There are quite a few threads on this. Use "broken starter pad" in the Google custom search box at the top of the page for more.

I had this happen a few years ago and I went with a in-line starter, rather than the stagered pattern. Worked great for me. I went with a mini hi torque from Summit, no problems. Hopefully you will be lucky too.

its the bolt hole on the outer side so wouldnt help..it was coursed from wrong starter bolts i think..it hasnt broken yet and can still tighten up bolt but its only a matter of time...i run a mini starter due to header cearance..do you know if you can brace them like the old starters to hold it in place tighter.
