I was looking at rims for my other car the other day and was wondering, Cragar used to make 2 5 spoke rims the chrome SS's and the other one looked aluminum with dark spokes. Anyone know the model of these and do they still make them?
I know exactly the wheels you are referring to and they don't make them any more. As I recall, they had cast aluminum centers/rim face with steel rims hidden behind the aluminum as opposed the the Radir approach of riveting a cast aluminum center spider in an exposed chromed steel rim. The SS chromed steel ones are all Cragar currently makes. Jegs shows in their catalog Torque Trust D aluminum wheels that have the old style straight spokes but that is as close as I think you can get with a currently marketed wheel.
Yep that's the ones. Look closely and you can see the steel rim behind the aluminum facade. The TorqThrust in Jegs are that type of spoke - straight instead of bulged out. About the only difference is that the Cragars are beadless while the TTs have a little bead on the face of the outer rim. That bead could be turned off in a lathe.
Hello fellas. I'm new to this website, and I have a question about some rims. I have a set of 15" Cragar Star Wire Wheels. Basically they are 30 spoke rims. What I want to know is do any of you gentlemen remember some rims that look just like these Cragars, the only difference being that the spokes on the other ones actually come off. They are like baskets that you can attach or remove as you please. The rim itself was a flat chrome rim, and if you want you add the baskets on to make them spoke rims. I am ATTACHING A LINK TO SOME PICS OF MY CAR. I have my 30 spoke CRAGARS ON THERE, SO YOU GUYS CAN GET A PICTURE OF WHAT THE ONES I'm looking for are like. Just copy and paste in your address box. Thanx.
I think the wheel you mean in the Keystone Classic Wire if my memory serves me right . I used to have a set that I put on my 55 if I knew the weather was going to be bad to save my ARE TT D's from going spotty in the rain.
I searched the web for a picture to show ya but couldn't find one .
"to save my ARE TT D's from going spotty in the rain"...............this was long before they were reissued !!!
Listen up hotrodders. I have a very big question and need help finding a certain rare set of cragars. I have an 88' mustang 5.0 with the regular 4 lug and 4 1/4 bolt pattern. Its very hard to find nice muscle car rims for my car because of its bolt pattern. But, i have recently looked on ebay and found that cragar made a 4 lug and 4 1/4 rim called the cragar ss vari-fit. I really need help finding these rims by any means possible. If anyone can help me i would be forever grateful. Just email me at hotshot_cp@hotmail.com. Thanks again fellow muscleheads.
