Hello guys was reading on the bad news that Crane is gone or will be closed for a while. I am building a 350 and was wondering will there be a possible cam and lifter shortage you think? I am only 33 years old so I have not been into hotrodding for many years like some of the veteran's here. I am buying a compcam roller cam with GM oem roller lifters. What do you think. If I feel that could happen I will have to bite the bullet and buy a set while I can.
Thanks
Eric
We have seen the passing of muscle cars in the past and of some obscure car companies.... as many have said and myself being one of them... all things go in cycles.... as old things are replaced with newer (not always better) things we see the supporting industries fail in their wake...... RIP.. Pontiac, Merc, affordable fuel, SUV's..... ?? Crane??.... ??HOLLEY?? OMG!! Take a knee my fellow Hotrodders!! Pray to the cubic inch Gods that this doesn't happen!! Rid your lives of all things unholy..... rice rockets, small tires, quiet mufflers, electric and I say it again ELECTRIC cars...... We are a dying breed and as for me and my house we will go out in a loud rev of true American muscle and the smell of burning rubber!! imp:
Crane was bought by S&S Cycle purveyors of various killer parts for Harleys. And US Made.
Don't forget Edelbrock was sold as well, hence Cammy's disappearence from the TV Circuit. Apparently Vic still has a Minority stake and is their pitchman for the rest of this year. He is out stumping for Edelbrock LLC and sponsoring shop classes for High Schools and Colleges
I was wondering about Vic still being involved, and you may be right, however this Press Release doesn't seem to indicate that Vic is leaving-maybe it's wishful thinking on my part-
Hi All,its sad to see CRANE CAMS go the way,of so many AMERICAN companies,HARVEY CRANE personally ground the supercharger cam for my 11.49 second,1960 CORVAIR, thats way back, when crane cams were located in Hallandale,Florida.(1960)
