My friend has a 1983 camaro z/28 with the cross fire injection 305. For some reason there is way to much fuel sqirting out of the injectors. I runs very rough from being way to rich. What can we do to fix this?????

In the early FI units there was open loop and closed loop. when the engine is first started when cold the computer richens the mixture to compensate fo no choke when the engine warms to a point the computer leans the mixture for normal running. It could be a bad temp switch,ECM,or cold start switch.these unit were good when the opreator understood the basic unit ,when first starting the engine it will run rich untill you reach operating temperature ,if you shut down the engine before, they tend to foul the plugs and make it run rough, then you will have to replace the plus because they won't clean up very well(something about fuel injection and spark plugs, permanent fouling occurs)So when you start it let it run until the computer runs its course.for now try replacing the spark plugs, use some standard autolites
