Cross Pipe in exhaust or straight sidepipes

I'm building an exhaust system and considering two options. In order to improve exhaust as much as possible for a street rod with mufflers or glasspacks, I've thought about using an exhaust crossover behind the headers then through glasspacks to a side piped exhaust. So the exhaust exists in front of the read wheels, OR simply coming off the headers to a glasspack to the sidepiped exhaust. Would there be any improvement in exhaust efficiency if a crosspipe was used ?

Thanks DelawareBill. That's pretty much how I felt about the crossover pipe too. I'm going to take your advice and keep it simple. Good luck selling your T-Bucket. It looks real nice.
