Crown Vic computer failure

I have a 98 CrownVic and one day, after i got home , my car wont start the other day ... it cranks but just wont start. i took it to the technicial and he instructed me to change the crank sensor and i did, but i didn't start. then i changed the fuel pump and didnt start also. finally the found out that my electrical generator is dead. i changed it also but no use. they try to program it but it didn't connect to the computer and they decided that it was a computer failure.
i went to the used autoparts shop to get i new computer for a similar car but i dont know how to get the right computer. there are many numbers that differ from computer to another but which should be the same... i have like
in bold VTC7

thanks in advance for ur help

The first thing before buying any more new parts is to check the stored computer fault codes to see what it holds. Go from there.
