Cruising the world with an engine instead of sails

I've been in contact with David, Kathryn, and daughter Ayla since September 2008. They have cruised most all the inland canals and waterways of the East Coast, and offshore to the Bahamas and northern Caribbean. Yesterday they transited the Panama Canal, and now on the Pacific side. Ayla has gone from 12 to 16 during all this cruising and is a delightful young lady. This last summer she spent time on Catalina Island (off the coast of Southern California) at a sailing camp. For her 16th birthday, since she lives on her parent's trawler, instead of a car she got a sailing dinghy. Here is her first video before all the cruising.

And this is her most current video. Isn't it fun watching kids grow up?

Ayla is about as sweet as a teenager could be. Currently a production company is pitching the idea to the cable networks that bring us shows like "Pawn Stars", "Alaska Gold Rush", "Ice Road Truckers", etc. Here is the sizzle reel that they are using in this pitch.

Whoops, did I give the impression that David was my son, making Ayla my grand daughter? They are just cruising friends, not family. I wouldn't mind being an "adopted" grandpa to Ayla, she is a smart and sweet young lady.
