Hi , I've recently installed a set of Cadillac seats from a CTS-V, in my '46 Ford coupe. Has anyone reworked 4-door seats to fold down for a 2-door application? My seats have power recliners on each seat. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Don't know if it's possible. I made the mistake putting Pontiac G6 buckets in my Maverick by knowing that I bought 4-dr seats, but not knowing they didn't recline. After fabbing the brackets and all, it was easier to locate a set of seats from a 2-dr and give the 4-dr seats to a bud. Maybe moving this to the interior section, Mr. Dan will know...
I've got seats from an '10 CTS. Due to the reclining mechanism, I can see no way to disengage all the various controls and linkages in order to lean the seatback forward. I would think it would be more realistic to devise a "platform" with a front pivot to tilt the entire seat up.
I have the same problem its a pita getting the seat forward and I have a biz coupe (no back seat)...I have to hit the switch and wait for the seat to go all the way forward but it wont go up enough if I had a back seat to get into. A nice little fix sure would be nice since the most common luxury car seats are for 4 dr
i reworked a set of ford fusion seats to go into my truk, prior to reworking them they would barely go vertical
i need the seats to tilt forward to access my battery and stereo amps behind the seats
i ended up tearing the whole recliner mechanism apart and grinding the stops to tilt forward
without the foam on the seats; yes, both seats tilt way forward
once the foam is installed the side bolsters in the back of the seat hit the seat cushion
it is enough to access my amps and service the battery, not sure if it would be enough to access the rear seat
before you go thru all the trouble of making the tilt mechanism work
see if you can make the seats move electrically back/forth/tilt
those seat have the memory module on them
I have a set of Durango seats in my Dakota that I plan on doing the same thing to as they won't tilt forward enough to access the rear jump seat. They're power heated seats with manual recline.
I used the seat tracks and tilt foreward parts from a blazer passenger side for the jeep. My son was using some molded hard plastic racing seats with out the upholstery kit, easy to wash off the mud I cut the latch parts out of the blazer floor and welded it into the jeep.
check out 2 door suv's at the wrecking yard for tilt foreward, bronco's have them.
