Custom door panels

Ok I know this question has probably been asked and answered already but I didn't see it . I would greatly appreciate any help from you guys that are willing to share some knowledge. Basically I I have a 69 camaro that I've been restoring that is my personal car. I am in the body business and restore hotrods as a passion I do all the work myself and I'm really skilled with my hands and want to go to the next level and start doing upholstery as well mainly my own. I really like the style of Shannons and you other guys work!! top notch doesn't even do it justice. I'm gonna use all leather and really my main concern is the door panels when doing panels with foam and some type of inset where the foam has been cutout do you glue the closed cell foam to the whole surface of the base panel board first then draw out the design and cut it out as well as the v cuts then cover the the whole panel with one piece Of material and then cover a separate piece of cutout panel board for the inset ( two tone , suede etc ) and then glue that where u want your inset. Or am i way off base on my thinking Also any special tricks when using real leather like different glue other than landau
or any other need to knows ?? Sorry for the lengthy post just want to cover my bases and not waste anyones time I know it's precious. Any help steering me the right way would greatly be appreciated.
