Post Custom Exhaust Question / Help

A few weeks ago I was watching tv. I think the show Horsepower Tv, but Im not sure.

The guy was setting up his exhaust systems, He had this "Y connector" So when you flipped a switch it would close one side of the exhaust and make it a Straightpipe from the headers to the side of the car, and then he would flip the switch again, and it would close the "straight pipe" section and open up the "catted" section of the exhaust that went to the rear of the car.

He installed it to were the headers meet the midpipes. So he could flip the switch, and have basically two types of exhaust systems. But not at the same time.

My question is what is it called ( the y connector electric set up thin ), and where can I get it?

Thanks for the help in advance.

Check with summit racing because even though it's not listed in the book it might be in stock they have a lot of things that they don't list.I know they have the manuel release ones.

They are called exhaust cut outs or dumps, here is a place that talks about them, http://www.buickgn.com/electricexhaustcutout.htm I didn't read it but it will give you more info on what words to search for on yahoo or other seach engines. You can also get a cast iron type with manual pull cables, I have two of the manual ones on my truck with a 350 and if you don't work something out to pull them shut good they will rattle. Sounds cool when they are open though. I think I heard that Doug Thorley makes them too but they might be pricey.
Hope this helps.

It was the thorley electric cutout that was featured. As the man above stated, they're pricey.

Here is a link from QTEC with cool movie clips to see and hear them work, and are cheaper than others.
