Custom floor pans.

i have a 94 gmc 1500 that is bagged and stock floor bodydropped. well there were some floor modifications that were done poorly and the floor pan is in terrible shape.

my plan was to cut the entire floor pan out of the truck from the firewall back except for 1.5 -2 inches around the perimeter. and lay down a 14-16 gauge sheetmetal floor. with a rolled driveshaft tunnel and trans tunnel. my main question is what kind of re-enforcement would be best for under the floor? like a grid. ie tried to find pictures of what im trying to do with no avail

I donīt think you need any re-enforcements under the floor.

Properly welded and shaped sheet metal would be good enough..

I found an interesting link. Seems to me, that itīs possible to fabricate floor pans in your own carage quite easily with common tools..

If you plan on putting down flat sheet metal without any beads you should make some kind of support or you will have tin can issues. The video that is on Youtube is from David Garndnier who is one of the best metal shapers in Great Britain. His video is fantastic and would recommend it to anyone who wants to get into metal shaping

Stiffeners will be the best way to go with the gauges you said you were going to use. You can come up with a channel to let you use a hand mortor to hammer in stiffener grooves or you could bend some angles from the same guage you use and tack weld them in the most strategic places to give you the added strength or resonance deadening. These can be fancy Vs with feet or just plain Vs. You may want to consider cross members (relatively light 1X2X1/8 tubular) to support seat mounting points or for seat belt mounting.
