Go to a sign shop and see if you can get some application tape it's like masking tape but 6" to 48" wide.
apply it to your car and cut it out.

Do you have a pic of your design? You might be able to use masking tape.

I'm just south of ya in Indianola

Do not use contact paper. There is a product called frisket paper and should be available from art supply stores.

My vote is still transfertape
If you use concact paper get the light adhesive and don't leave it on too long.
I'm not sure if frisket will handle the solvents it my melt.

Lanierledford, That was called "Acrylustration" I used to do a lot of it back in the seventies.

You pick a subject. Poster, picture, drawing etc. Then you spray it with several coats of acrylic (clear) paint. When set up, the original picture paper is washed off the back. This results in a very thin decal. This decal is then sprayed on the backside with acrylic clear (slow reducer) and then transfered to the fender that has also been prepped and shot with acrylic clear (slow reducer). You have to be quick and accurate or you will have a big mess. But it works. I started out on tool boxes with Vargas girls from Playboy mag. Then gradually got into complete auto hoods etc. The paints available now are better so I would think the process would be easier and longer lasting. As the early stuff suffered from excessive film build and the cracking and UV. weathering over the years of exposure to the elements.
