Looking for input on how to address my current issue. Got a 32 deuce steel frame. 48" Pete and jake I beam. Running monoleaf setup and have a set of speedway 27" radius rods. The radius rods are too short, see attached pics, the frame builder says custom radius rods are needed with his frames. He can take my radius rods and modify them. I was wondering if that is my only option or if anyone sells a longer radius rods? Thanks
my opinion on this.. building my tbucket yrs ago... is trash what u have and go 4 link.. just think down the road when u need to do a 4 wheel alin and adj the angles of the front end... my first bucket was with wish bones.. my second was 4 link. wish bones are a PAIN to adj when u get to the nitty gritty.. disconnect make half turn adj, reconnect.... and do it a few more times and i'll hear u yelling from here.. i hate wish bones set-ups. your at a point u can make a bracket on the frame and go 4 link.. front AND rear.. the main thing u need is a left handed tap..
1. mount the front axle with the hair ping attached. Locate the rear mount point (holes in frame). Drill and weld a gusset, piece of round stock between the frame sides, to prevent the sides from collapsing or pulling in when the bolt is torqued.
Update. Found a guy that will build custom hairpins per my measurements. EZtbucket is the company, I will send my speedway rods back and measure for mine. They are about the same price so it will make it easier on me not to relocate mounting hole for rods. I need to get my caster right before I order them. Everything I have read says caster needs to be 5-7 degree. Does that sound about right?
Measuring the hairpins be sure to allow for some adjustment of the rod ends. Use those hairpins as a base, get the measurement set before you let them go back.
It's been a long long time since I did a t bucket but that number sounds familiar. More will mean lazier steering but will self center easier and less will mean sharper steering but will self center less.
