Custom steel steps for a S-10 stepside bed..

Well we will start from the beginning...A while back I helped My son get this S-10.. It needed a few body repairs... So we smooth the tailgate,Frenched in the plate on back and fixed a big dent on the side of the truck..Also Made a custom roll pan..I Posted pictures of this some where's here but can't seem to find them..So I will do it again with what I have..

Here's a shot of his new truck..with the side being fixed..

Well let's get started... Since we didn't have a bed to cut up... And his was way too nice by now to cut.... What are we going to do ???

We looked on line for a shave kit for the back.... It was like $600.00 with the roll pan...

That isn't going to happen..

And no one makes the front step's out of metal..

Now I got to looking at his bed really good.... The mind was running wild...

I did find him a tail gate off a fleet side... I know it's to wide !!!!

So I cut it down to fit, And welded it in place..

Now.. Since no one offer's steel front step's.... And the back shave kit was way out our $$$$ range..

I was looking really hard at his bed by now....
Man I really didn't want to cut up this bed... BUT !!!!

It was time to cut.... I told him I could make some custom steel front steps with his old fleet side bottom's...

He said what ever you want to do.... So while he was at school... I STARTED CUTTING !!!!!

I really wanted to surprise him when he got home... So I only had a few hour's..

The more I looked at doing this... The more idea's came to me.. So I cut all the bottom's off his old bed.... Now everything on this bed will be welded on and slicked out in the end.. No more plastic on this bed..
I will even hand make the two front pieces up top side...(gold piece in picture)

Here's where I'm at now.... I had all this made in on the truck before he got home...
