Custom Taillights?

I want to make custom taillights for my 85 GMC Sierra, anybody have any suggestions on what I can do or what I should do? I tried looking for taillight covers for it but couldn't find any. So I decided I'd make some or do something along that line. I got a spare set of taillights to experiment with so that I don't take a chance of messing up the ones that are on the truck now.

Any ideas at all Bring Em On

i believe the '85 taillights are really quite small. if you want to do something custom i think i'd fill in where the taillights are now with metal and find something really cool off another vehicle to custom install in there. maybe you could fill in the ends of the box and then put in some vertical cadillace LED strips like on the new Deville?

You could go with taillight filler panels, and install a rear roll pan with Corvette lights, or Cadillac lights layed on their side in it.

They sell these already made up for some trucks. If I find them later today I will post a link in here.

This can also be made using your imagination and LED's and starting with a solid metal roll pan.

They also sell roll pans in urethane, fiberglass, and ABS plastic for many different possibilities according to what you can work with.

what would I need to do to keep my truck legal. I really like the looks of that. If you look down towards the bottom of the page it says that they are not d.o.t approved does that mean that they arent legal or what?
