custom trends

I'm looking for internet sources where I can see what the customizing trends of the late 50's - early 60's were. Can anyone help me out please?

cant say I have EVER seen one complete source. I know a few months back R&C did a thing on interiors, but it was sparse. I mean if you are seriously searching, just get some old hotrod magazines. you can stacks of them on ebay for pretty cheap. I just got a whole set of "ford times" for 10 bucks, and like 5 Hot Rods from the 60's...

Thanks for the compliment Grouch,

The hood will be primered during the course of this week so I can start blocking it. The rear quarter are darker because there's a guide coat waiting for blocking.

I'll check those links out. By the way, the old custom trends will not be applied to my '53 but to my '52.

The '52 is complete enough to restore to original but I want to customize very subtly. I'm thinking of a nice yellowish gold metalic paint, lowered suspension and white tuck n roll interior. I wouldn't mind some wide white walls but here in SA they would cost me ZAR13000 (about US$2000) after shipping. That puts them totaly out of reach for me.

Wow! That's just too much.

Feel like gambling $25 USD?

Just noticed your remark about your '52 (so I'm slow). Check this out in my album: http://hotrodders.com/gallery/showphoto.php/photo/13862

Thanks for that link! I will definitely e-mail the guy and try and get a can or maybe even two. That price I can still live with (my wife too...lol).

Unfortunately I must first finish the '53 ebfore starting on the '52 otherwise I'll just get distracted. I hope to get the '53 painted in December around Christmas. (It's summer here now see) I'll just have to pull finger with the block sanding and last one or two minor mods like cutting the rocker panels and locating the side-pipes there.
