Cutting and re-welding flanges on a rear end.. Rat Rod

Ok Workin on a Ratt Rodd ! its a spliced 30 and 28 chop top body on a 74 Caddy Frame thats Been Shortend . I Know its Junk But actually Looks Like it would Work They Flipped Frame rails on rear just in front of the rear wheel's . Im Not Bigg GMC Fann Think Motor is 425 caddy and OEM Trans that came in 74 Caddy . My Question is that the Differential Has an Off Sett Pinion . Im Presently trying Too Sqaure Engine and Trann's up fabricate motor mounts and tranny mounts Get a Pinion Gear Angle ? But of the Off Sett pinion gear . Do I Need too Center Pinion gear ? Gett A Ford 9 in ? Or Better question is How is an Off Sett Pinion Set up Originally in a 74 Caddy << Is there a way too do this ? Drive Line I Shortend too 31 inches and Just Tacked in Place ? Frame Seem's Level and Sqaured ! Just a Ratt Rodd ! Not A Lott of Money in it . i Know it's a Mess . I Didnt Build It Just trying Too Straighten it Out Possibly Cruise her on are Local Dry Lake Bedd Here ? Any Ideas ? Aside from Scrappin Frame Buildin A Real Rodd ? Any Help be Appreciated ! Im New too this Forum ! Built Lotts of Cars out of Junk Yards . Built Few Muscle Cars ! Even Owned a 66 Shelby once , I Do Lott's Of Old Air Cool Bugg Cars . <<< As in Im not Totally Stupid Or Unfamaliar with a Wrench or a Hot Knife, AKA stinger ! Sean

Ratt Rodd

Yipp Im a Newbie And Im Lost !Started a Ratt Rodd On a Shortend Caddy Frame . Just Recoverin from Shrapnel too the Eye Syndrome ! <<, Means last time I was in here Probably High as a Kite On Vicodan ! Read All the Post On Eye Injury's ??? Been doin Buggs last 15 Years . But Needin too Set up a Caddy 12 Bolt Differential in this Ratt Rodd . Thought Pinion was off centerd , But after recovering from my eyeball Mishap and finding a Tape measure It seem's its Centerd Now all I need too do is Sqaure it in the Frame , And Rock the Pinion gear up 4-6 Degrees . Im not much on GMC Differentials its Held in place By 4 Link's 2 on top 2 on bottom . Lookin like I need too Remove Diff Brackets and Rock the Pinion Angle up Too the 4-6 degree Angle. It's Got 12 Bolts in the Cover And it's sittin on Chopped Coil Springs, with air shock's . If your a good welder...just cut them off and weld them back in the position you need them in. If you are not a good welder then maye you need to hire one.

Welcome the board.

I would get some assistance from a person familar with these changes.

If not done correctly the car could drive real poorly and be dangerous.

Photos might help some the folks here understand what you are trying to do with the diff and this frame

Mostly 60's Era Ford Mustangs And Vw Buggy's . Im Lil short On Just weldin American Cars Together From Misceallaneous, junk Parts Tho ! Unless There Volkswagen ! Appreciate the Help ! Kinda Just Figurin out How the Forum Work's . Hopefully Can Return the Favour On Info Exchange ! Like Ive said I built Lotts of Volkswagen Type 1 . Few Fords, coupla Mopar Powerd Vehicles ! Im A Newbie But Im Kinda Rusty, and Bent Too ! Eyeball Feel's Whole Bunch Better Today ! Lotts Of Post on Eyeball Stories in Here ? Carb Spray <<, Good for Ever Thing ? Even Snake Bite ! But I prefer Usin a Magnet on metal slivers in the eyes ! About my 10th Time In Eye ball E.R. Pickin up On Nurses over the Year's ! Still Workin On A Pinion Angle .
