Cylinder head ID? Anyone know what a head with a 5x stamp?

Looking at an engine in a Buick but don't know if it's a Buick 307 or an Olds 350, the drivers side head has 5X stamped on it near the spark plug for the #1 cylinder. Any ideas what heads these are so I can try to figure out what engine I'm looking at?

Thanks for any help

Buick didnt make a 307. If its a buick V8, then the distributor would be at the front of the motor. The Olds engine will have the distributor at the rear.
Olds heads are marked in the spot you are describing, but would not use an X, maybe an A or a. If its an Olds motor, there will be a shelf right behind the water pump, but infront of the intake, that will have cast in numbers that will help you figure out what Olds motor it is. Also, later model Olds(1977 and up) will have the size cast into the side of the block.

Early to mid 80's 307. Very reliable motor, but youre not gonna get much power out of it unless you spend a lot of money. Build your Chevy, or find a bigger Olds(330-455)
