Hello Motor Heads,
I recently uncovered a time capusle that was pulled and set on an engine stand some 25-30 years ago.It is a carb to pan complete motor from a speed boat.
It was taged as a 429 Cj 375 horse. motor ( Valve coversticker.)
It is my understanding that the D1Ve was only offered as a Crate motor short block in either 429 or 460 depending on the crank pkg ordered.
Has anyone heard this as well?
Some guys call it a Lincoln Motor But is not what I have been told.
My information is a Special application Block sold as a Short Block only by Ford
Dealers. Also it is widly used for Nasscar etc and can be stroked to around 566 C I and is capable of 600 and more horse.
I have done quite a lot with Chevys over the years and am wondering if anyone out there would think it may be a good idea to oil the bore through the spark plug holes before diassembly? Have not tried to turn it over since the heads and plugs are in place yet.
Am wondering if this may be the aluminum piston model or not.
It is the Cast Intake Holly set up...DO0e9425-0 with a carb tag reading D4JLT 6F30 7971
Any information would sure help Guess I should see if it will turn over...

There is nothing special about a D1VE block, it is just your standard run of the mill 1970's 429-460 block. I have one in my 78 F250, one on my engine stand and one in my shed.

Yep, Its a garden variety block. nothing special.
The 429 Cobra Jet came standard issue with a quadrajet carb.
What is the casting numbers on the head? The CJ head is DOOE-R
