I saw him in Topeka. Red shirt, shorts, hat, cigar, small notepad making notes about each run. Building engines for Dave Connolly. Not sure what he will do next year. I think Dave is going to another team, different engine builder.

I Am Pleased To See Da Grump Alive And Still At It! Chevelle SS-I Have Thought The Same Thing! I Have Seen Photos Of What Could Be A 'New Camaro'. Looked Fine-Kinda Retro-Looks Like Aerodynamic, Modernized Version Of '69. CHEVY Also Has A MALIBU SS In The Works-Have No Other Info On That So Far. I Will Post Camaro Link If I Can Find It.(I Got It Off A Previous Post.) MD

Grumps doing well. A friend of mine's son works for him. They're hoping for big things next year.

Thanks Again, I Am Delighted To Hear Ol Grump Is Still Wrenchin'. I Was A Child When I First Saw The 'GRUMPYS TOYS'. I Was In The Process Of Figuring Out What I Was Gonna Drive. I Noticed The Needles Pointing In The Direction Of CHEVY More And More. I Soon 'Threw My Hat Into The CHEVY Ring' Based On What I Saw At The Various Race Tracks, Speed Shops, Machine Shops, And Was Indeed Influenced By Da Grump, Others Like Him, Yenko, Motion, Zora THE LIST GOES ON. These Forums Reminded Me Of All These People And Vehicles. I Am Not A Humongous Drag Fan, I Lost Interest In NASCAR At The Advent Of The Plates, So My First Three Loves Vehicle Wise Remain, 1 CHEVROLET 2 STREET RACING 3 LE MANS (AND SEBRING,ETC). The 'GRUMPYS TOYS' I Saw Were The Vegas And Monzas. I Understand There Were Many Earlier Ones As Well. MD

The last one is probably the best. 55 to Impala (BelAir?) to Nova to Camaro to Nova to Camaro to Vega to Monza to Camaro.

Awesome Work Man! You Did A CLASS A Job Of Putting That Together. There Are Many Outstanding Things About Those Pix One Of Which Is How Close To Streetable Most Of His Cars Were! And The Slicks On The CHEVY II, I've Seen Wider Rubber On The FRONT Of Some Cars! ( One Older Friend Told Me In His Day The Best Gripping Street/Strip Tires Were Some Type And Size MUDGRIP That Was Available Back Then. I Grinned And Said, "Yeah, Right!" He Swears He's Telling The Truth.) All My Friends Asked Me To Build A Straight Line Car (I Guess They Wanted To See What Tricks I'd Pull Out Of The Hat). I've Got A '78 2WD Blazer I Thought About Tubbing With A Narrowed 12 Bolt/McCrearys, And Some Appropriate Goodies Such As Richmond Gear 5, And Something Different Under The Hood-Stroked 267 (I Did One Of Those For My 4X4,Very Nice, No One Believes What I Did,Stroked 305-Done A Few Of Those-Very Nice, Or A 366 Big Block-Never Saw Anyone Do One Of Those, Maybe A 292, Maybe A 348). I Just Can't Seem To Make Myself Build Something That Wont Run on Top End And Take Curves. I Wont Rule It Out-I'll Probably End Up Making It Relatively Strong Out Of The Hole, Then 'Come On With It' As My Other Vehicles Do And Still Be Able To Do The Top End And Curves, Too. Thanks For A Truly Awesome Trip Back In Time! MD

Link to Chevelle? Concept. It needs to look like a modernized 'velle, not a GTO with square taillights.

/\would make good photochop food. Add 71-72 malibu tails, make the front remniscent of a 70, the quad headlight work, make a slightly larger swuarer grille and see what it looks like. Add new-style Cragar S/S to complete the look.

another camaro concept

and the pics are the sweetest, they might be photochopped of the above. Dare I call the design dropdead sexy? And I thought 1960s Ferarris looked nice.

EDIT: I'm a sucker for the right kind of curves in the right places, 69-82 Corvettes, and 'humpback' (71-74) Javelin/AMXs.
