Good advice there. My Dad has lent (& lost) $1,000's in tools & equipment over the years... NEVER AGAIN!...
#1. Family, friends (& others )... Bring your project... Use tools for free... Leave "empty-handed."
#2. Lose it?... Break it?... REPLACE IT!
Maybe agree to share "the use" of that well equipped workshop with the younger generation... The above rules ALWAYS should apply... NO EXCEPTIONS!

That way family always stays in contact... ALL tools stay together for greatest usefulness... and everyone stays happy.
