The damage

This is a picture of my uncles 2003 grand prix. He was on the way home from work and the car in front of him hit a piece of shredded tire and it flew up and hit his car. No injuries except to the carpic

damn cheap ***** trucking companies and their stupid re-treds. Those things are always coming off in the summer, but i guess if only a few people's cars get wrecked from it its ok...

K:rolleyes:

Sorry to hear about that Novaman.

That sucks. Sad thing is, the car is probablly close to being totaled with that damage

Re-treads should be made illegal. I was on a Boy Scout trip last week and my troop had to borrow a trailer from a friend of the troops to haul all of our stuff. Unbeknowst to us, the trailer had 2 re-treads on it and on the 750 mile trip back home from Clayton, GA. to New Orleans, LA. Both tires wound up letting go at different times. Thank goodness it was a dual axel trailer. We had to put the spare on first and then find a tire shop in the middle on no-where to replace the second tire. Finally made it home 2 hours behind schedule. Thos damn things need to be outlawed.

Yes i agree they are very dangerous. They are always laying around on the roads.

Re-treads should be illegal, I almost ran one over on I-95 today.

fourbyfourblazer 07-22-2004 06:16 PM

ouch! that sucks. It reminds me when I was alot younger when I was driving a box van on the freeway with the parking brake on. The rear heated up and one of the tires blew off the rim and hit two cars. Funny thing is both drivers took off. lol Good thing it had dual wheels. whew!

53LEDSLED 07-22-2004 06:54 PM

i just loaded a 53 foot trailer with 50000 lbs of machinery, i dont know how the heck the allow them to do that with so much weight on the truck. be lucky that it was a tire that hit him and not a 10000 lbs machine.
PS the guy had 3 shredded tire on top of his trailer, he said its the only ones his been able to take off before they came off.

CrashFarmer2 07-22-2004 07:05 PM

53LEDSLED, was that a day cab or did it have a sleeper?
Most of the trucks I drove OTR could haul somewhere over 46,000 pounds legally. I imagine that a daycab could legally put over 50,000 in a 53 footer.
