Dana 40???

Alright my 58 Volvo has what I'm told to be a Dana 40 rear. The car has 4.56s so they gotta go sometime. When searching for rear gears all I find is Dana 44 and 30(and of course 60).I guess this is the origanal houseing for the car,but now equiped with ladder bars.
Does anyone know were to find gears for a Dana 40???Is there actually a 40,and not a miss interpretation of 44???The only time I found it online said Dana 40 was an option in 1959 chevy pickups.
Any info on this rear would be cool.

Well, nothing in the books. i asked my boss about it, he said the dana 44 evolved from another axle but he didn't have any more than that.
if you can get any numbers off the ring gear or any tags, we might be able to get something from the dana web sight.
whats wrong with 4:56 any way, sounds like street gears to me!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hey, this post didn't get added to the previous post. did i break it?
