If I could find a 63+ Dana 4 posi from a GM application, I think I could easily do this, but I need to make sure the axles are the same other than the splines. I think they are, as the widths I believe stayed the same narrow width for most of the 60's. I was referred to a place called Precision Gear in Michigan that apparently makes all sorts of custom stuff for Dana 44's and other axles. Waiting for a call back from their retrofit guy. I like the Dana 44 a lot, but the lack of the 10-12 coarse spline axle replacements just totally sucks! The backing plates being welded on sucks, but if I swapped to another rear, I'd go through a lot of hassle trying to figure out what Dana 44 late model had a similar width, would take GM disc brakes, and then have to weld on the trailing arm and panhard bar mounts... Either way, it's a lot of work!
