When looking at the housing from the cover side there will be a series of numbers stamped into the right axle tube. The first series of numbers will be the date of manufacture. For example, 1 20 76 would be january 20th 1976. The second series of numbers (beginning with a 6) is the bill of material number. Post the bill of material number and I can be more help. mudlust.

there is no code on the axles tubes. It was raced and cut on so I think it is welded over. Are there any other things you can tell me? Thanks

Prostreet6t9 is correct. The numbers 32626 are the ring gear number and indicate a 6.17 ratio, 37-6 is the tooth combination, and 1 20 76 is the date of manufacture. I had a Dana 60 cut down for my Jeep. The ends were cut off and new ones were installed to accomodate larger spline axle shafts and the numbers are still visible as they are closer to the housing side of the tube. If you look at the tube you will see where it was milled to slide into the housing. If the numbers are still present they should be just past the milling line. If you had the bill of material number, I could probably tell you which motor company it was manufactured for, what years and what models, as well as how many were produced. Without it I cant tell you anything else.
