Dantwolakes Door panel help question

Todays the day the work begins on my door panels.

The base material is 1/8" ABS plastic. My questions is, the ABS comes with a smooth side and a haircell side, which side would be the primary side? which would be the back?

Do all surfaces the receive the adhesive need to be scuffed and wiped clean?

thanks in advance Dan

Scott

What needs to be scuffed is closed cell foam (Volara) that would be glued to the face of the panels. If you don't scuff it the glue just sits on the surface and doesn't hold as well. You don't need to scuff the panels, but they should be clean. Just wipe them with some mineral spirits and let them dry.

I'm not sure it makes a difference which side of the ABS you use for inside and outside, but if it was me, I'd use the smooth side to the door, and glue the padding to the rough side.

What is best thing to use to scuff up the foam?
I tried sand papper, but it did't do to go.
Thanks

A Scotch Brite pad, or 200 to 400 grit sandpaper. You only need to take the shine off the foam. Just a light scratching will do.
