Dash Designs

I have a 36 Ford Coupe and do not care for the dash design...I've had some thoughts that I would like to have something similar to an old corvette style dash with a center console. Does anyone have any ideas as to how I might best set out on constructing something of this nature....

I'm thinking that it should perhaps be attached to the existing dash and extended out....perhaps sheet metal formed to the design of the vette dash...

i am not exactly sure where you can get the stuff, but some big blocks of sculpting foam or just get a big box at least the width of the inside of your car and triple action foam that comes in spray cans (you can get it at lowes or whatever is in your area)fill the box with the foam and let it sit the recommended time(look on can)then when its dry cut the box away and you can start sculpting your own dash.when you get the design you want go over it with body filler to smooth it out then you have your mold so you can fiberglass around it and then you have your dash hollowed out.hope this can help you out!!it seems like a lot of work but you get what you want
