Red face Dash fire

I have and 86 s10 long bed, b4 i got it some one had don't a not so hot radio install that got really hot, and burned the dash up and the wiring.
I have since i got it cleaned all the charred remains out of it put a steering column that will turn in it. i also have put a 350/350 combo in it.
I am wondering if rebuilding the dash is worth while or just go pick up a diff. truck and swap the motor into it since the truck was free so i don't care to trade or scrap this one for a better one like a short bed. How hard is it to make sheet metal dash, with the thought of a roll-cage in the future. either way i have to make a wiring harness, or get a donor one. what would the cost be to have a metal one made?

I had to read that 3 times before i could understand it...

If you are putting a V8 in it, I would scrap every wire in the truck. Start over with an aftermarket wiring harness. To me, it would be alot easier to start over from scratch, than try to fix whats there and tap into the wiring for the new motor. And if you would rather have a short bed, then get a short bed truck.
