wow, it looks like that car doesn't need much work! Very nice looking car, though!

Any other projects?

going to change the color

from red to black any thoughts on how. Here is a post I submitted earlyer:

Well, I am going to give painting a shot. I have a 91 S-10 that I will practice on before I turn to the Daytona. I want to paint both the same w/ black and then clear coat. I figure I will make many mistakes on the S10. My first ? is: Compressors. Is this 5.5 HP http://www.homedepot.com/prel80/HDUS...er&DRC=2&IRC=2

good enough for painting?

I bought the Neil Slade DVD on painting a car. It's an OK overview, but just not enough details like: spry paterns/ adjustments to gun/ and working w/ fiberglass. If anyone knows of some great websites that can get me going in the right directions I would appriciate the info.

I am a perfectionest and from some of my reading I may just prep the Daytona and take it to macco for the final block sanding and painting. I will do the S10 completely; after all it is my work truck and I should learn enough to do the jams and under the hood and trunk on the Daytona. Since I am changing the color from red to black.

From Neil Slade

I'm always happy to see people making reference to my materials--

One of the things I strove for in writing my manual and DVD was to allow newer painters to get right to the heart of painting, with all of the essentials covered clearly and without getting bogged down in needless details that rarely come up.

I've used one spray pattern and a simple gun for all of my work, and this is adequately described in the material. Every gun comes with instructions for adjusting that particular brand, and that's where you go for that.

Per fiberglass- my site Fun With Body Putty shows clear examples of doing an ENTIRE fiberglass car, much less repair of spots, and it remains a perennial favorite on the web. I created the page just as a lark when I first began working on my Lotus, because there weren't too many pages on this topic, much less on Elans.

Fiberglass repair simply is not difficult, but requires the same patience other areas of car painting also require. Besides this, most cars, 99% have no fiberglass to repair, so it's essentially a moot issue for most painters.

Besides these points-- I answer questions the same day someone emails me- so if you're wondering about something, I'll help- and if I don't know, I'll point you in the right direction.

Thanks
Neil Slade
