I 'am in the middle of painting a Friends 67 chevelle with a med blue metallic with ditzler dbc. I put on two coats and plan to let it dry overnight Then lite sand it and check it over good then give it 2-3 more good coats of paint. Will I have any issues doing this with dbc?I have thought of masking it off after the paint has sat for about 4 hrs. and clear it in stages. Like the front clip first then mask it. paint door with clear then when dry mask off doors and paint roof and 1/4 panels last. My thinking is less over-spray at any one time the less dust in clear. then sand and buff when good and dry. This thing has to be perfect or I will be redoing it.Great guy just really picky!!!!!!.What you paint pros think of this. I'am not limited on time.

DBC has a 24 hour recoat window, which after that time must be sanded and re-based. It has a mask off time of about an hour to be on the safe side. You really should not have to re spray your base after 2-3 coats anyway unless you have a ton of trash in it. Be careful what grit paper you are going to use, with the base mettallics they are not too forgiving with covering up a course grit scratch as a solid color will. I usually use 1500 grit with wax & grease remover as a lubricant to "wet sand" just the trash areas only.
