dead spot in my throttle

Ive just recently upgraded the top end of my 350. i took off the old 2bbl carb and upgraded to a 650 avs thunder from edelbrock . the intake i bought with the carb is a rpm air gap also from edelbrock . since then ive had a really bad dead spot in my throttle. ive tried fixin it but ever time i get rid of it... it comes back. so far ive uped the timeing to 16BTDC, and increced the amount of fuel by way of the plunger. after each fix the problem went away for a few days but it just keeps comin back . i also have an adjustable vaccum advance set at zero turns out. am i over carbing the motor ???

This may be a stupid question, but do all 4 of the throttle plates open/close simulataniously? Or do two of them open at certain times when going WOT?

all 4 open at the same time. but the secondarys have an air valve that is suposed to block some of the air upon WOT. its supposed to block some of the air to let the fuel catch up but it opens up just a split second after the plates open. i can adjust that to get more air faster but i tried adjustin it to let more air in and vise versa. but the dead spot is still there.

I had the same problem with the exact same carb and intake setup you have...Timing fixed it for me though...I have mine set at 12 degrees...Have you tried retarding the timing since you've done the other changes?
