Dealing with the addiction

To many projects and not enough time to get anything worthwhile acomplished on anything?? The 53 lost headlights, then the 37 fried the wire going to the altimnator. Gremlins, trolls, monkeys, I think not. The Gods of the projects telling me to pass on some of my favorite cars?? How and where do you find good homes?? I have to get down to One, maybe two cars but what stays and what goes?? Hi, my name is Todd and I am car Addicted...........Caraholic? How do you keep it down to one car guys/gals? This ones a hot rod, that ones a street rod and those over there are muscle cars?????? Any ideas?

Let your wife hold the credit card.. You'll be down to one car in no time at all.

Yea, I know what you mean, I just bought a 71 Nova Rally and an Opel Gt on e-bay, that makes how many cars in the barns? (over 50) nobody has over fifty projects, well nobody thats normal anyways, all I can say is it keeps me sober and out of the bars.
No Dear, I'm not on e-bay again!! Yes we're going to Ohio this weekend to pick up another car.
I was once down to five cars back in the eighties and was miserable. Yes I am addicted!

10 is the magic number. Anything above that number is showing off. Of course if you are like me, you don't count the ones above 10 - they are strickly parts cars for the first 10. Yeah right!

A man / lady (gotta be collectible correct) can't have too many projects. I actually write down all the things that need to happen on each of my cars on index cards. As I finish something (no matter how small) I scratch it off. Makes you feel like something is happening, plus when your better half asks what is going on with the project, you can read off your accomplishments.

I, too, am a rodaholic

We all start off the same. First car and a need to be noticed. I wedged 2x4's between the springs on my 66 Impala after the first week and butchered the dash for an 8 track. I now think I should apply for fleet insurance rates with my carrier.
IMHO, 3 is the starter number. One daily driver that is cool. One hot rod that is close to being done and has miles on it. The third is the one you search parts for, bench race with and stay focused on. That is where I am now. I also look at every car that can be made into something or has worth. I have a 13 and 10 yr old, and they will need cars. I will need to build them something. My wife thinks we'll buy off the rack. She is beautiful, but silly.

I always try to mirror our hobby to others. A great freind of mine at work would never twist wrenches because he golfs. I think golfing is worse than crack when it comes to addiction and cost. What about fishermen. They ain't doin' no Zebco stuff. My hobby keeps me home more than not, keeps the family cars on the road without major mechanical bills,'s my hobby. It is a part of me and what I do. Therefore, I am happy. I love coming home from the shop, smelling nasty, looking worse, but grinning from (no, not the Jack) my ability to create something. Until I am physically unable to do this kind of stuff, I will press on with vigor.
