decent spray gun

It generally depends on what you use it for. Most of the Sharpes I run across are too hard to clean, due to the double fluid inlet. Astro makes a gravity feed that breaks down clearcoats as well as any for about $90. Get the smallest tip (1.2-1.4); this is also good for basecoat. For primers, a larger tip will save your shoulders on full-panel primes, go with about a 1.6-2.0 for these. That's whith a 2 part catylized primer. For spot priming, just cut the mix down a little with some urethane reducer. For higher-end painting, a DeVilbiss GTI plus is a great gun for the price. It puts out an absolute fog of a pattern, at the expense of more material waste.

There is a host of decent knock off HVLP guns on Ebay that do a superb job. One of the most popular is an Iwata W-400 clone. I have aslo purchased several HVLP guns from Harbor Freight that also do an excellent job.
